ACUPUNCTUREAcupuncture works by balancing the natural mechanisms of the body through regulation of your metabolism and bio-rythms. This is achieved by placing fine needles into acu-points along meridians in the body inorder to balance these bodily systems. Japanese AcupunctureThis style of Acupuncture uses a gentle and pain-free technique, with ultra-fine needles & shallow insertion which is also good for sensitive people. There is no strong sensation of energy required, therefore, painless insertion. Diagnosis is based upon abdominal palpation,Pulse & Tongue assessment and meridian diagnosis. The underlying imbalance is treated first, then symptomatic relief is given dependant upon the condition being treated. What is it good for?Stress, Anxiety & Insomnia Respiratory & skin issues Migraines Fatigue & digestive-intestinal problems Infertility & IVF assistance Back, neck & joint pains
Supporting Therapies: Cupping and Moxibustion
To supplement the acupuncture treatments Japanese Moxibustion and Chinese Cupping Therapy are used to reinforce energy into a point or remove pain & stagnation respectively.
Moxibustion is the art of applying moxa (herb:mugwort) to the body or needle and lighting it to bring warmth & energy to the acu-points and cold areas of the body. This brings immediate soothing relief to stiff, painful joints and strengthens weakened tissue or underlying organs.
Cupping Therapy uses glass or plastic 'jars' on the body inorder to create a deep vaccum type pressure. This releases deep, painful tissue or muscle trauma and is a pain-free and relaxing experience.
Treatment
The first session involves a full consultation and initial treatment, subsequent sessions will be mutually agreed upon from the outset. For chronic,long-standing or multiple health issues a short course of treatment will be required, normally on a weekly basis, to kick-start the body's own healing process. Then maybe monthly top-up sessions.
For simple, acute or recent health problems only a few sessions are usually required, maybe less if the patient has a strong constitution. Patients new to Acupuncture need to be aware that there are no quick fixes in oriental medicine, as the body requires time to adjust and adapt to the healing process. A gradual move to improved health is more sustainable in the long-term, whilst the underlying root causes of disease are addressed.
That's not to say that there are no improvements in signs & symptoms, just that 'miracle' full cures take a little longer!
